Ready
To Serve Unit - Spotlight
This Month’s Spotlight is featuring the new Ready To Serve
or RTS Unit from Burlodge. The Burlodge Company has been around
for the last 20 years and has offices in Canada, USA, England,
Belgium, Italy and a very good network of distributors in other
parts of the world. The company is renowned for its manufacturing
in Italy and its exceptional quality and commitment to client
care post sale and start up. They produce excellent retherm equipment
for tray and bulk needs. The RTS is no different. It is manufactured
with care and is a state of the art system.
The RTS is not a retherm system really but rather a temperature
maintenance meal delivery system. So, in reality the retherm
is done before it goes into the RTS using bulk retherm methods
such as convection ovens and or steamers. From a conventional
hot beltline, the trays or bulk pans are then assembled and
placed inside the RTS which in turn keeps the hot food hot.
It has a section that keeps cold foods cold as well. That is
the unique thing about the RTS….the cold temperature maintenance
ability.
What I mean here is , if you look at conventional hot beltlines,
you either put the foods together on a tray and use pellets
or insulated tray compartments or you put bulk foods in a hot
holding cabinet for transport to patient wards. Is there really
a system out there that also keeps cold foods cold in bulk or
on a tray while you hold the meals before delivery to the bedside
?....well, the RTS is here.
The construction of the unit is Burlodge quality , that is
very evident. It is light weight and very easy t o move around
on floors and even carpet. Burlodge has designed the RTS with
flexibility in mind. The unit can be converted on the fly from
a tray cart to a bulk holding cart or even to a continental
breakfast cart that holds ½ size trays effectively doubling
the capacity of the tray cart. It has a unique and powerful
control pad and display with optional HACCP monitoring controls.
The programming is easy and the unit takes up very little floor
space.
I saw the cart myself and I have to say that it is a really
neat and useful device that if taken care of, will last the
test of time. It has applications for all sorts of things from
healthcare, to daycare, to even hotels and catering. The cart
comes in three colors and is easy on the capital planning department
too. If you get a chance you should check this newest cart on
the market. Trust Burlodge to come out with yet another innovative
method of food meal delivery. Check out their website to see
the RTS and learn more.
